Mind over Feelings
Had you known the power of choice
And why people fight so dearly over it
You would be eternally grateful for the opportunity to exercise that right.
The power choice has over our emotions has not yet been mastered by many.
You may not be able to control the actions of others
You may not be able to prevent them
From uttering insensitive words
speaking without thinking
You do however,
have a choice
You have a choice in how you respond.
Its so easy to be impulsive and say a piece of your mind
Its so easy to scowl and ignore their presence
Its so easy to make them wish they never said or did what they did.
Now let me tell you what is hard
Discovering the beauty in breathing in
sparing 5 seconds in your mind
to repeat
until you feel that switch.
Then comes the smile
Where your next action would be one that swallows the pride stuck in your throat.
That one obstacle that could cause damage the minute it gets out.
You told it who’s boss.
You owned it
You regained control.
Now what do you do with it?
You can chose to stay silent
Genuinely letting the situation go summing it up as them showcasing their human ways
Or you can chose to speak wisely.
Never have i cherished the freedom of choice like now
The peace that resides in my heart after letting bitter words and thoughts release
And why people fight so dearly over it
You would be eternally grateful for the opportunity to exercise that right.

“ i choose not to be angry”
“ i choose not to be sad”
